Tony James joined the Brewers from Weymouth in the summer of 2007.

He started his career as a trainee at West Bromwich Albion but never managed to make it past the reserve team. He joined Hereford United in 1998 making more than 250 appearances for The Bulls.

Tony became a cult hero at Edgar Street and ended his time with the club on a high as he led the team to promotion to the Football League at the end of the 2005/06 season.

He opted to stay in non-league football and moved to Weymouth but left after just one season when financial difficulties struck the South coast club.
