Michael was given a chance to restart his football career with the Brewers after being out of the game for a year through injury.

A veteran of more than 500 games as a professional, Michael is perhaps best known as a member of the Wycombe Wanderers team that reached the FA Cup semi-final in 2001.

Nigel Clough tried to sign him when he left Wycombe in 2004, but Michael opted to join Leyton Orient instead. A serious injury saw him leave Orient and gave the Brewers manager a second chance to get his man.
