An experienced keeper,
Martin originally joined the club in a coaching capacity, but was thrust
into the staring line up after the departure of Matt Duke to Hull City left
the club without a goalkeeper. He played the first few games until a
replacement was found, and has now retired to the back room. Born in
Tamworth, Martin put this terrible affliction behind him to go on to enjoy a
successful league career with Derby County, Carlisle, Scunthorpe and Crewe.
It was at Wycombe Wanderers though that he achieved hero status, saving a
penalty and then scoring one himself in a shoot out against Crystal Palace
in the FA Cup 5th round in 2002.
