KEITH GILROY

Squad Number: 11

Position: Midfield

Date Of Birth: 08 Jul 1983

Signed From: Darlington

Debut: 13/08/05 v Grays Athletic (h)

The arrival of Keith Gilroy at Burton Albion may have come as a bit of a surprise when his previous encounters with the Brewers are taken into account. Whilst at Scarborough, Gilroy was a rising star who was attracting the attentions of a host of league clubs. However his chances of a big money move were ended, after a tackle from Burton defender Terry Henshaw left him with a broken foot.

He never really managed to regain his form with Scarborough and although he did make it back into the Football League with Darlington, he was released after just two appearances.

Nigel Clough had been a long time admirer of the Republic of Ireland U21 international, and swooped to sign Gilroy as soon as he was released.
