Marston
Road
Stafford
ST16
3BX
Tel: 01785 602430
Getting There: From Uttoxeter (A518),
follow the road past the showground until you reach a roundabout
with the University on your right hand side. Take 3rd exit into
Beaconside.
Follow this road and turn left at second set of
traffic lights.
At next set of lights, just before Shell garage,
turn right. Ground is on left hand side.
From M6, exit at junction 14 and follow
signs for A34 (Stone). At second roundabout take second exit
signposted for RAF Stafford. Take the third turning on the right
into Common Road. Ground is on right after one mile.
Parking: There is a car park at the
ground, and street parking in the nearby industrial estates.
By Train: The nearest railway station is in
Stafford. It is a long walk to the ground and it is advisable to get
a taxi.
The Stadium: Stafford have been at their
Marston Road home for over 100 years, and nothing much has changed
since those early days.
To give you an idea of how outdated the place
is, the club's official website lists new terrace steps, a tidy up
and new floodlights as the major improvements since 1977. The
floodlights were such a big event that the unofficial site even has
an entire photo gallery dedicated to the large erections.
For those that look back fondly on the Southern
League days, Marston Road is a chance to rekindle happy memories.
It is a bit like Nuneaton, with a small main
stand in the centre of one side, and a mixture of covered and open
terrace around the rest of the ground.
New seating has been added to the Shed End to
bring the ground in line with Conference standards, but it could be
money spent in vain as the players are not up to the same level.
It is also like Nuneaton in that the average
Stafford fan looks a bit like this;

(and these are just the women!)
Admission Prices: £12 adults, £8
concessions (transfer to main stand £2)
Places to eat and drink: There is a
social club at the ground, but due to segregation, it will not be
open to away fans before the game.
A good place to stop is the Saracens Head in
Weston, which you will pass if following the directions from
Uttoxeter.
If approaching from the M6, there are two
Brewers Fayre type pubs on your right as you head towards the town.
The Shire Horse is perhaps the best of the two pubs, but food
service can sometimes be a bit slow.
There are a couple of pubs closer to the ground.
These are more popular with home fans, and look a bit run down.
Websites: There is an official site
www.staffordrangers.co.uk,
this site is functional but unexciting.
