BURTON ALBION 0 ROTHERHAM UNITED 1 (27/02/10)
The
Brewers suffered their second successive home defeat with this
disappointing defeat to high flying Rotherham.
Albion dominated the first half but failed to produce a goal from
their pressure. The visitors came out stronger in the second half
but did not look likely to break the deadlock until a mix up in the
Burton defence allowed Adam Le Fondre to score an easy goal.
The
defeat means Burton drop to 13th place in League 2, but only 5
points off a play-off place.

BREWERS BRING IN BOCO (25/02/10)
Paul
Peschisolido has acted to boost his threadbare squad ahead of
Saturday's clash with Rotherham United by signing Benin
international Romuald Boco.
Boco
has been without a club since leaving Irish League side Sligo Rovers
but he did play for his country in the African Nations Cup last
month.
He
is a player that Albion fans have seen in action before during his
time with Accrington Stanley. He was part of the team that gained
promotion from the Conference, and Romuald earned hero status with
the Reds when he scored the clubs first goal in the Football League.

HEREFORD UNITED 3 BURTON ALBION 4 (20/02/10)
Tony
James picked the perfect time to score his first Brewers goal with a
header in the 6th minute of added on time in a seven goal thriller.
Shaun Harrad opened the scoring with his fourth goal in as many
games but the home side went into a 3-1 lead with an hour gone.
Goals from Cleveland Taylor and Aaron Webster levelled the match and
it looked as though things would end all square, especially after
Webster's second yellow card reduced Albion to ten men.
However Keith Gilroy's free kick in the 96th minute was met in the
penalty area by the head of Tony James to complete the most unlikely
of comebacks.

BURTON ALBION 1 CREWE ALEXANDRA 2 (12/02/10)
The
Brewers run of recent good form came to end as they went down to a
late goal at the Pirelli Stadium this evening.
The
visitors, captained by John Brayford, took the lead on 27 miuntes
when Shaun Miller scored from inside the area. The Brewers were on
level terms just one minute later when Shaun Harrad scored his 12th
goal of the season with his now trademark turn and shot.
Both
sides looked for a winner in the second half with the Brewers having
the best of the chances to add a second, including a Harrad effort
which cannoned back off the post.
The
introduction of Crewe sub Clayton Donaldson was the masterstroke
that won the game The Alex forward was in the right place to
tap in Byron Moore's shot across goal in the 84th minute to condemn
the Brewers to their first league defeat in six games.

BURTON RETURN FOR BRAYFORD (11/02/10)
Defender John Brayford will make his first return to the Pirelli
Stadium on Friday evening since leaving to join Crewe Alexandra in
2008.
When John left the Brewers in an £80,000 deal
there were two divisions between the two clubs, but relegation for
the Alex and promotion for Burton now means an unlikely return to
his former club.
John made 100 appearances for Albion, scoring 8
goals, after progressing up from the youth team. His time with the
Brewers is memorable not only for his performances on the field, but
also for his array of hair styles. |

CHELTENHAM TOWN 0 BURTON ALBION 1 (09/02/10)
The
Brewers moved to within 3 points of the play-off positions thanks to
Shaun Harrad's goal.
Harrad scored his 11th goal of the season with a turn and shot from
the edge of the penalty area. Albion had chances to extend their
lead in the first half with Cleveland Taylor and Russell Penn having
efforts saved.
The
home side rallied in the second half but rarely troubled Artur
Krysiak, although Barry Hayles should have grabbed a point but
somehow managed to put his shot wide when faced with an open goal.

BURTON ALBION 1 PORT VALE 0 (06/02/10)
Jacque Maghoma's 39th minute strike was enough to settle a fiery and
entertaining Staffordshire derby.
Paul
Peschisolido stuck with the same starting line-up that picked up a
point at Northampton and the team looked to on course to continue
the fine run of form as they dominated the majority of the first
half.
The
visitors did have a good chance to take the lead after 8 minutes,
but Artur Krysiak's legs denied Louis Dodds. Maghoma's fine run and
shot opened the scoring and just seconds later Vale should have been
level but Rob Taylor blazed his shot over the crossbar.
The
Brewers did have chances to extend their lead in the second period
but as the half progressed, the pressure from the visitors
increased.
Fortunately Albion held on, even through the five minutes of added
on time at the end of the 90 minutes to earn their first ever
victory over Port Vale.
