DROYLSDEN 0 BURTON
ALBION 2 (25/09/07)
Two moments of magic in a
five minute spell in the second half were enough to beat Droylsden
and keep up Burton's unbeaten record on the road.
A free kick from Keith
Gilroy was headed in by Mark Greaves for the opening goal, before
Shaun Harrad curled in a second from 25 yards out.
The home side had
threatened to open up the Brewers defence with their long ball
tactics, but there was always a last ditch tackle from the Albion
defence to steal the opportunity.
Ryan Taylor made his
first start for the club and showed good touch and strength and
looked a good partner for Daryl Clare. Darren Stride returned to the
heart of the defence and looked like he was back to his best again.
In all it was a well
deserved victory, and although still in 5th place in the Blue Square
Premier, the gap to the teams above has been closed after most of
tonight's result ended favourably.

BURTON ALBION 2 WOKING
0 (22/09/07)
The
Brewers got back to winning ways thanks to a brace from Daryl Clare
in the first half.
It was
certainly a game of two halves. The first 45 minutes was back to the
attacking football that was last seen against Torquay, but the
second period was laboured against a Woking side who had been
reduced to 10 men within the first quarter of the game.
Daryl
Clare opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Matt Ruby had
been adjudged to have handled the ball. His actions also earned him
a red card, although it appeared the ball was already over the goal
line before Ruby's intervention.
Clare
added a second with a neat twist and shot to make it 2-0 at the
break.
The
visitors put in a spirited performance in the second half and were
unfortunate not to at least score a goal.

BREWERS SIGN STRIKER
ON LOAN (21/09/07)
Nigel
Clough has today strengthened the squad as he aims to keep the good
start to the season going.
Young striker Ryan Taylor
has joined from Rotherham United and will go straight into the squad
to face Woking tomorrow.
Taylor is a product of
the Millers' youth system and has made 15 first team appearances,
including 2 as a substitute this season.

BREWERS HIT LOW EBB
BUT GILROY GOALS FLOW (18/09/07)
BURTON ALBION 1 EBBSFLEET
UNITED 1
Keith Gilroy scored a
dramatic late equaliser to snatch a point that the Brewers barely
deserved.
Nigel Clough had promised
'flair football' in this game, but the performance was disjointed
and scrappy and a million miles away from the last home game against
Torquay.
Luke Moore opened the
scoring for the visitors after following a breakaway move from a
Burton corner.
The game looked to be
heading for a disappointing defeat until Andy Corbett's cross found
Gilroy in the penalty area, and the ball was dispatched low into the
corner of the net.
The Brewers remain in the
play-off positions in 5th place but a gap now seems to be opening up
between the top 4 teams and the chasing pack.

RUSHDEN & DIAMONDS 0
BURTON ALBION 0 (15/09/07)
The Brewers failed to
sparkle at Nene Park but will be happy to continue their unbeaten
away record with this bore draw.
The home side wasted
several good chances to win the game, whilst Burton failed to muster
a single serious shot on target.
Nigel Clough surprisingly
left Keith Gilroy on the bench and the result was a lacklustre
performance from the players that did start the match. Darren Stride
made his first league start of the season in place of the injured
Mark Greaves, and Andy Corbett returned after injury.
At least the sun was
shining on the large travelling contingent of Burton fans who were
in fine voice and good spirits despite the lack of action on the
pitch.

BURTON ALBION 4
BEDWORTH UNITED 1 (12/09/07)
A
hat-trick from Marc Goodfellow propelled the Brewers into the next
round of the Birmingham Senior Cup last night.
Sam Hall
scored the other goal in front of only 144 hardy souls.

BURTON ALBION 3
TORQUAY UNITED 1 (10/09/07)
It maybe a bit too early
to start getting carried away, but the Brewers look like they have a
team capable of making a realistic push for promotion this season.
The visitors were swept
aside in a storming first half, although they were not helped by a
goalkeeping gaffe that allowed John Brayford to score from the half
way line.
Andy Gooding added the
second goal on his home debut to make it 2-0 at the break.
Torquay rallied in the
second half and did pull a goal back, but Shaun Harrad secured
victory with a late goal after good work from Keith Gilroy.
Another positive was the
return of Darren Stride and Andy Corbett who both came on as
substitutes, with David Farrell also fit enough to take a place on
the bench.

NORTHWICH VICTORIA 0
BURTON ALBION 2 (04/09/07)
The Brewers moved up to
fifth place in the Blue Square Premier league with a comfortable win
at struggling Northwich.
It was a largely one
sided match, but Kevin Poole was called into action on a couple of
occasions.
Aaron Webster opened the
scoring, heading in from John McGrath's corner kick. Webster had
already put the ball in the net earlier in the game, but the effort
was ruled out by a very whistle happy referee.
Albion's second goal was
a screamer from Keith Gilroy. The little Irishman curled his shot
into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area to continue
his run of scoring great goals this season.
