WHIPPETS WHOOPED BY BREWERS BLITZ (31/07/07)
Gresley Rovers were made to pay for daring to
take the lead in this Bass Vase clash as they were hit by a five
goal salvo from Daryl Clare and Shaun Harrad.
After Martin Taylor's early mistake had gifted
the opening goal to Tom Groves, it was all one way traffic towards
the home goal. A combination of poor finishing and excellent
goalkeeping meant there was only one goal in it at half time but
three more Albion goals in the second half set up the final against
Nottingham Forest on Thursday.

MORE FIXTURE MISERY THANKS TO SETANTA (31/07/07)
The shopping centres of Burton will be filled
with bored football fans on Saturday 29th September after the
scheduled game at Halifax Town is moved to a Tuesday night.
Although the Brewers match will not be
broadcast, Halifax's previous game against York has been moved to a
Thursday night for live coverage and so the Shaymen have requested
the change of date to allow them to rest before meeting Burton
Albion.

BREWERS SHOW CHARITY AT GRESLEY (31/07/07)
Burton
Albion's players will be doing their bit for charity when they face
Gresley Rovers in the Bass Vase.
Nigel Clough has kindly volunteered to take his
players to the South Derbyshire enclave to give a football
demonstration to a group of poor and disadvantaged people.
The locals, known as Whippets, have been without
any recognisable football for a decade and the visit of a Blue
Square Premier club will hopefully bring some much needed excitement
to the village.
A visitors guide to
Gresley can be found
HERE.

BURTON ALBION 3 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 2 (29/07/07)
The Brewers made it two wins in as many days as
they booked themselves a place in the Bass Vase Final.
After beating a young Birmingham City side at
the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, Nigel Clough's side faced a Forest
U21 side at Rocester this afternoon.
Burton went two up with goals from Chris Archer
and Sam Hall and looked to be coasting to victory before a flurry of
goals in the last 15 minutes. Shaun Harrad added the third goal for
the Brewers.

|
BURTON ALBION 0 ROTHERHAM UNITED 0 (25/07/07)
Kevin
Poole rolled back the years to produce a string of saves which
earned a draw against League Two Rotherham United.
The visitors were on top for most of the game
and created all of the opportunities in front of goal.
The rare highlights for the Brewers were a
couple of mazy runs from Keith Gilroy and a shot from the Irishman
that rippled the side netting.
A Birmingham City reserve side are the next
visitors to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday. The Premier League side
are also playing a friendly at Walsall on the same day, and Steve
Bruce's new signings are all likely to be on show at the Bescot
Stadium.

BUXTON 1 BURTON ALBION 3 (24/07/07)
Shaun Harrad continued his pre-season scoring
spree as he bagged a brace in an entertaining game at Silverlands.
Aaron Webster scored from the penalty spot in
between Harrad's strikes.
The home side missed a penalty and also saw
another effort hit the woodwork. Michael Towey scored a late
consolation for The Bucks.

ROBINS RETURNS TO BREWERS (24/07/07)
Albion
Oldboy Mark Robins
makes a return to Burton tomorrow night when he brings his Rotherham
United team to the Pirelli Stadium.
Robins joined the Brewers at the start of the
2004/05 season but made only 13 appearances in an injury blighted
spell. He joined the Millers as assistant manager but was promoted
following the sacking of Allan Knill in February 2007.
Also making a return to the Pirelli Stadium will
be former Albion midfielder
Andy Todd. Todd is the 'one that got away' after he failed to
make an impact with the Brewers but whose career soared after
winning promotion to the Football League with Accrington Stanley.
The game kicks off at 7.45pm with admission
prices set at £6 for adults and £4 for concessions in the main
stand. Terrace admissions are £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

and with it news that Roger Bullivant have taken over as the sole

BURTON ALBION 0 DERBY COUNTY 3 (23/07/07)
The Brewers put up a spirited performance
against a second string Derby County side and will feel hard by to
have been bitter by such a large margin.
Robert Earnshaw was the only one of the Ram's
new signings on show as Billy Davies split his squad between the
Pirelli Stadium and a second game at Macclesfield.
Nigel Clough gave home fans a first look at new
signings Mark Greaves and David Farrell as well as handing a trial
to former Chelsea goalkeeper James Russell.

BREWERS ON THE BOX (15/07/07)

The Blue Square Premier match at home to Torquay
United has been moved to Monday 10th September and will be shown
live on the Setanta Sports channel.
The away fixtures at Weymouth and Stevenage
Borough have also been moved to Thursday evenings on 23rd August and
18th October respectively.

BURTON ALBION 0 IPSWICH TOWN 3 (10/07/07)
The Brewers put in a creditable performance
against their higher rated opponents and will perhaps feel slightly
hard done by with the margin of defeat.
The visitors scored all of their goals in the
first half, including one from a hotly disputed penalty but it was
not all plain sailing for the Championship side as they twice had
their woodwork rattled.
Burton fielded a strong line-up which included
trial players Gary Croft and Dave Farrell. Both players put in
impressive performances and looked useful additions to the squad.
Striker Chris Archer also made his first
appearance with the first team but had little time to impress after
coming on as a late substitute.

TRACTOR BOYS ROLL INTO TOWN (09/07/07)
Championship
side Ipswich Town will provide a tough test for the Brewers in the
first pre-season game at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow night.
The tractor boys are staying at Loughborough
University for a few days and will also play a warm up game against
Kettering Town. Manager Jim Magilton has almost his entire first
team squad available for the game and could include some famous big
names including French international Sylvain Legwinski and former
Canadian international defender Jason De Vos.
The game kicks off at 7:45pm and reduced
admission prices have been set in all areas of the ground.

|
ARNOLD TOWN 2 BURTON ALBION 3 (06/07/07)
The Brewers made an early start to their
preparations for the new season with an entertaining win.
The first half saw all the new signings on
display and despite John McGrath's penalty miss, Albion took a 3-1
lead into the interval.
After a change of personnel in the second half
the home side fought back to reduce the arrears and could have
levelled the match in a frantic last few minutes.
Burton's goals came from Andy Corbett, Oliver
Hancock and an own goal.

BREWERS GET A START OF GLASS (03/07/07)
Burton Albion have been handed a tricky test in
the opening game of the 2007/08 Blue Square Premier League season as
they travel to the Glassworld Stadium to take on Histon on Saturday
11th August.
The Cambridgeshire village side will be playing
at the highest level of football in their history and have been one
of the busiest clubs in the transfer market as they aim to
consolidate their position.
The first league action at the Pirelli Stadium
comes in the form of a tasty double header against York City on
Tuesday 14th August, followed by the visit of Oxford United on
Saturday 25th.
Relegated Torquay United make their first visit
to Burton on Saturday 8th September with the return match at
Plainmoor on Saturday 5th January.
The festive period sees a double header against
Stafford Rangers, with the Boxing Day fixture at Marston Road with
the Pirelli Stadium return on New Years Day.
The season finishes with a home game against
last seasons beaten play off finalists Exeter City.

pre-season and league fixtures can be found HERE
