PLAY OFF TICKET NEWS (27/04/08)

Details of the ticket arrangements for both legs of the play-off semi finals has been announced.

The home leg on Friday 2nd May is NOT all ticket for the terraces but seats in the South Stand must be reserved in advance.

The away leg at Cambridge is ALL TICKET. Burton have been allocated 1400 seats in the South Stand at a cost of £16 adults, £11 concessions and £8 U16. Tickets must be purchased in advance as there will be none available for sale on the day.

Both games will be shown live on Setanta Sports.

BURTON ALBION 4 EXETER CITY 4 (26/04/08)

A remarkable league season ended as it began with a goal fest as the two of the play-off contenders both played out an amazing game in front of a bumper crowd.

The two sides could have simply saved their energies for the forthcoming semi-final games, but it was a game that would be worthy of the final itself at Wembley stadium. Eight goals, amazing saves, goal line clearances, a and a worrying injury to goalscorer Matt Williams.

The result means that the Brewers remain in 5th place in the table and will face Cambridge United in the two legged semi-final, with the first game at the Pirelli Stadium on Friday night.

KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 4 BURTON ALBION 1 (22/04/08)

The Brewers have made the end of season play-offs for the first time in their history despite a heavy defeat at Aggborough tonight.

Defeat for Stevenage Borough at home to Northwich meant that Burton's result didn't matter and that the final game against Exeter City on Saturday will only decide which opponent they will face in the two legged semi-final.

BURTON ALBION 3 STEVENAGE BOROUGH 0 (18/04/08)

The Brewers put on foot in the play-offs with a convincing victory over Stevenage that puts the pressure on the teams below them.

It was a tense first half in which the visitors had several chances to score, but it was John Brayford who managed to find the net first when he headed in. Daryl Clare scored his 25 goal of the season to make it 2-0 from the penalty spot before Brayford added his second and Albion's third.

One win from the final two games will ensure a place in the play-offs regardless of results elsewhere. To see how the fixtures will affect the Brewers you can check out the useful 'Play-off Predictor' that has been sent to me by Gary Hodgkisson. Click on the link playoff-predictor.xls

BURTON ALBION 2 HALIFAX TOWN 1 (15/04/08)

Big games need big names, and the man to settle the end of season nerves tonight was Daryl Clare. His fine individual goal in the 74th minute set the Brewers on course for the win after the visitors had dominated much of the game to that point.

Marc Goodfellow added a second with a stunning 25 yard strike in the 89th minute but Halifax pulled a goal back seconds later to set up a tense finish.

ALDERSHOT TOWN 1 BURTON ALBION 0 (12/04/08)

The Shots edged closer to promotion to the Football League but were given a scare by a battling performance from the Brewers.

Albion had several chances to get something from the game but were denied by a mixture of good saves, poor finishing and the woodwork.

BLUE SQUARE REVIEW (11/04/08)

The Brewers will attempt to continue their play-off push and postpone the Aldershot promotion party at the Recreation Ground this weekend.

Whilst the Shots are now guaranteed promotion, it looks as though Burton's season will go right to the wire and could all depend on a winner takes all game against Exeter City on the last day.

The Blue Square North champions have already been crowned and the Brewers will face Kettering Town next season if they fail to make the step up to the Football League.

The Poppies wrapped up their league title with 5 games still to play after defeating AFC Telford on Saturday. Kettering could provide the local derby opposition next season after Stafford Rangers' relegation from the Premier division was confirmed on Tuesday night. Despite their recent good run, it was too little too late for Droylsden who also fell through the relegation trapdoor this week.

BURTON ALBION 2 ALTRINCHAM 1 (08/04/08)

The race for the play-off places is getting tense and there were certainly some chewed fingernails at the Pirelli Stadium tonight as the Brewers snatched a late win.

The first half was devoid of much goalmouth action, but the second 45 minutes was a definite feast of thrills and spills.

Shaun Harrad opened the scoring on 68 minutes with a stunning strike from the edge of the area. A clanger from Saul Deeney allowed Greg Young to grab a late equaliser but it was left to top scorer Daryl Clare to scramble the winner three minutes in added on time.

The win moves Albion back into the top five after Exeter City went down 2-0 at Salisbury City.

BIRMINGHAM CITY 5 BURTON ALBION 0 (07/04/08)

There will be no extra silverware for the Pirelli Stadium cleaner to polish tomorrow after the Brewers suffered a crushing defeat in the Birmingham Senior Cup Final.

The match was a very one sided affair with a strong Birmingham reserve side barely breaking a sweat throughout the 90 minutes.

A bad night was made worse by an injury to Dave Farrell which saw the defender need assistance to leave the pitch.

BURTON ALBION 2 GRAYS ATHLETIC 3 (05/04/08)

The Brewers wobble continued with a second successive defeat which could see them slip out of the play-off places.

The visitors took the lead when Barry Cogan profited from poor Albion defending to score from close range. Burton equalised through an own goal, Jamie Stuart deflecting Keith Gilroy's corner into his own net before Matt Williams turn and shot snatched the lead.

Grays won the match with two goals in two minutes shortly after half time. Cogan bagged his second before Jamie Taylor headed the winner.
