NEW
HOME SHIRT UNVEILED (16/06/06)
The Brewers are set to launch a new home strip ahead
of the 2006/07 season, and CTMD can reveal a sneak preview of the
shirt ahead of it's official launch.
Thanks to a secret source inside the club, an artists
impression of the shirt has been passed to us, and the details can
be seen below;

The strip sees more of a return to the traditional
yellow and black of previous years, although some fans will be
disappointed that there has not been a return to yellow and black
stripes, or indeed even amber.

ALBION
OLDBOYS UPDATE (05/06/06)
Former Burton Albion defender Les McJannet (pic left)
has taken over the managerial reigns at Northern Counties East side
Glapwell FC. Les made 108 appearances for the Brewers between 1984 &
1987 before following manager Neil Warnock to Scarborough.
Les joins up with another former Brewer at Hall
Corner, striker Darren Roberts.
Another former Brewer has also been on the move with
Andy White joining Kidderminster Harriers following his release from
Notts County. White played 3 games on loan for Burton during the
2003/04 season, and despite scoring on his debut in the 2-1 win at
Hereford, failed to impress further and returned to his then club
Mansfield Town.

SCARBOROUGH DOWN, ALTRINCHAM STAY UP
(03/06/06)
The relegation issues in the Nationwide Conference
took yet another twist following the leagues AGM today.
It was announced that Scarborough have been relegated
following a breach of the league rules, although what the offence
was has not been detailed. The club will also start the new season
with a 10 point deduction due to entering into a CVA with their
creditors.
The ruling means that Altrincham now earn a reprieve
after they were initially relegated following an 18 point deduction
for fielding an ineligible player.
The farcical situation also sees Tamworth saved from
relegation following Canvey Island's decision to resign from the
league.
The last time that the clubs that actually finished
in the relegation zone went down was at the end of the 2002/03
season. Since then, teams have been saved by the off field
activities of other clubs, with ground grading and financial
problems deciding the issues rather than matches won.

BREWERS
MISS OUT ON RICHARDS (02/06/06)
Whilst Nigel Clough was sunning himself on a beach,
transfer target Justin Richards was heading off to the far less
glamorous surroundings of Peterborough to sign for his new club.
The former Woking striker, a subject of a club record
£25,000 bid by the Brewers, opted for a return to league football
after joining the Posh on a two year deal.
Richards revealed that he always intended to sign for
a league club and that joining another Conference side was never an
option for him.
The news will no doubt spark further transfer
activity at Burton Albion when the manager returns from his summer
break, to add to the capture of Lee Fowler from Scarborough last
month. |
