(29/07/06)
The
Bass Charity Vase game against Notts County on Tuesday has been
cancelled after the Magpies reported that they could not raise a
team.
The decision means that Burton are
awarded the game and now progress to the final on Thursday evening
where they will face Nottingham Forest.
It is the second time that Notts County
have 'cried off' playing the Brewers, after another friendly
originally scheduled for today was also cancelled after the change
of management at the club.
The BCV final kicks off at 7.45pm at
the Pirelli Stadium.

(29/07/06)
The Brewers made in 2 wins in 24 hours

Jon Shaw was the only player to have
featured in last night's game, as Nigel Clough took the opportunity
to blood the whole squad.
Danny Holmes opened the scoring in the
first half, before Jon Shaw and Keith Gilroy added goals to make it
3-0 at the interval.
Aaron Webster added a fourth in the
second half, before Gilroy completed the scoring with his second
goal.

Wednesday visit the Pirelli Stadium on Monday night, kick off

Burton Albion kick off their
participation in the Bass Charity Vase on Friday night at the Moat
Ground against Gresley Rovers.
The Brewers will be looking to again
appear in the final after appearing in but losing the last four.
Nottingham Forest have already booked
their place in the final on August 3rd after wins against Gresley
Rovers and Notts County. In the Nottingham derby, played last night,
the reds won 2-0 against a young County side which had former Brewer
Saul Deeney in goal.
Burton's game against Gresley kicks off
at 7.45pm.

DANNY HOLMES SIGNS FOR BREWERS
(22/07/06)
Young
midfielder Danny Holmes has today signed a one year deal with Burton
Albion after a successful trial period.
The 19 year old was released by Port
Vale at the end of the season after failing to make the step up to
the first team.
Holmes looks to have been signed as an
understudy for Darren Stride in the centre of the Albion midfield.
It also seems likely that striker Steve
Scoffham will also sign for the club after this afternoon's friendly
against Derby County

As exclusively revealed on the CTMD
website last month, Burton Albion have unveiled a new home strip for
the 2006/07 season.
The new shirt, pictured left, features
a new sponsor after Roger Bullivant took over from Knott as the
club's joint main sponsor.
The new shirt goes on sale on Saturday
and will be worn for the first time as the Brewers face Derby County
in a friendly at the Pirelli Stadium. |

ALBION OLDBOYS UPDATE
(20/07/06)
Three former Burton Albion players have
switched clubs during the frenzy of transfer activity during the
summer.

making a return to Burton this season after his move from Stafford
Rangers to take up the post of reserve team manager at Portsmouth.
Goalkeeper Saul Deeney has returned to
Notts County, the club that he walked out on to join the Brewers.
Former loan star Jamie Price has left
York City and has joined Harrogate Town.

BURTON ALBION 1 WOLVES 0
(15/07/06)

BREWERS LOOK TO TAME WOLVES
(15/07/06)
Wolverhampton Wanderers are the
visitors to the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon as the build up to
the new season continues.
Wolves have named a strong squad for
the match, with former England and Manchester United star Paul Ince
the only big name missing from the list.
Albion fans should get a first chance
to see new goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson, whilst trialists Steve
Scoffham and Danny Holmes will be given another chance to impress.
Ticket prices are £12 adults, £10
concessions and £5 kids to sit in the main stand, whilst terrace
admission is £10, £8 and £3 respectively.

TOMLINSON MAKES INJURY COMEBACK
(11/07/06)
Crewe goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson looks
to have recovered from his injury set back as he played in a
friendly match at Quorn this evening.
Stuart
was due to join up with the Brewers on a season long loan ahead of
last weekends game against Birmingham City, but an injury picked up
on a training camp in Portugal put the move on hold. If fit,
he could now be allowed to meet his new team mates in time to face
Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

MORE
FIXTURE FRUSTRATION
(10/07/06)
Burton Albion look set to incense fans
even further after announcing that another home game is being
switched to a Friday night.
The Nationwide Conference game against
Altrincham, originally scheduled for Saturday 3rd March is now being
played a day early to avoid a clash with Derby County's massive home
game against Colchester United!
The Brewers now have 8 games scheduled
to be played on a Friday evening!

|
BURTON ALBION 1 BIRMINGHAM CITY 5
(08/07/06)
DJ Campbell ensured that youth
triumphed over experience as the young striker scored four times
against veteran keeper Martyn Taylor to ease Birmingham to a
comfortable victory.
The Brewers fielded two completely
different teams for each half of the game, and the both sets of
players acquitted themselves well until three goals in as many
minutes at the end of the match.
Andy Ducros scored for Burton at the
start of the second half, and the Brewers had a few good chances to
add to their tally before the late collapse.
New signing Lee Fowler certainly
impressed on his first appearance, whilst the trialists did well but
none really stood out as certain candidates to start the season with
the Brewers.

BACK THE BREWERS WITH BET365
(08/07/06)
The bookies don't give the Brewers much
of a chance of causing an upset this afternoon, with Burton 5/1 to
beat the Blues this afternoon. Even a draw seems to be a outside bet
at 11/4.

KEEPER INJURY BLOW FOR BREWERS
(06/07/06)
Burton
Albion look set to face Birmingham City on Saturday with only Martin
Taylor available between the sticks after Crewe goalkeeper Stuart
Tomlinson picked up an injury.
Tomlinson was set to join the Brewers
on a season long loan, but a calf injury picked up in training could
see that move delayed. The news means that 39 year old Taylor, who's
only first team action last season was one Birmingham Senior Cup
game, could make his first start in 6 months.
The Blues look set to bring a strong
side to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, but one player who will be
missing is Emile Heskey. The former England front man today moved to
Wigan Athletic in a £5.5 million deal.

SATURDAY SWAP SHOP
(06/07/06)
Fans preparations for the 2006/07
season have been thrown into chaos already after Burton Albion
switched several league games to Friday nights.
The traditional 3pm kick off on a
Saturday looks to be a rare occurrence in the future at the Pirelli
Stadium as already four homes games have been brought forward. This
is on top of Friday night away fixtures at Grays Athletic, Woking
and York City which mean torturous long journeys through rush hour
traffic.
No official reason has been given for
the fixture changes, although many fans blame the club's reluctance
to employ their own stewards, instead relying on hired help from
Derby County meaning the two clubs cannot play at the same time.

TICKET

The
ticket details for the pre-season friendly against Derby County on
Saturday 22 July have now been confirmed.

meaning that supporters will have to pay up to £14 to watch the
game. OAP's will have to pay at least £10, and children will be
charged £3 or £5 for terracing and seating respectively.

SQUAD
NUMBERS ANNOUNCED (26/06/06)
Burton Albion have revealed the squad numbers for the
2006/07 season, and there are a couple of surprises amongst the 18
players announced. The biggest eye opener is last seasons top
scorer, Jon Shaw, loses his number 9 shirt to Daryl Clare and now
takes number 16. Terry Henshaw looks to start the season as a squad
player after losing his number 2 shirt to Gary Rowett, taking number
15 instead. John Brayford starts the season as a senior player, the
number 17 shirt his reward, and it looks as though Nigel Clough is
set to play on as he retains the number 20 shirt.
