CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1 BURTON ALBION 2 (30/12/06)
The Brewers ended an amazing year on a high with
a win at the Abbey Stadium. A year that started with two momentous
FA Cup clashes with Manchester United, ends with Albion sitting in
third place in the Nationwide Conference.
In almost a repeat of the Boxing Day game at
Tamworth, the game was won by a Daryl Clare penalty, which had been
awarded when the home keeper hauled down Shaun Harrad. Earlier the
U's had taken the lead, only to hand the Brewers an equaliser with
an own goal.

BROWN RETURNS TO STANLEY (26/12/06)
Striker David Brown was missing from the Burton
Albion squad this afternoon after being recalled from his loan spell
by Accrington Stanley.
Brown made five appearances for the Brewers, but
failed to score to goal. He did make a telling contribution in the
FA Trophy win at Gateshead, setting up three of the goals.
It is unlikely that Nigel Clough will pursue the
player in the player in the January transfer window, with Justin
Richards still the number one target.

TAMWORTH 0 BURTON ALBION 1 (26/12/06)
A second half penalty from Daryl Clare was all
that separated the teams in a scrappy Boxing Day derby.
Clare scored from the spot after Jon Shaw was
pulled down in the area by Jose Viega, an action that saw the
Tamworth keeper sent off.
The match lacked any real quality from either
side, and attempts on goal were few and far between.
The result keeps the Brewers in 5th place in the
Nationwide Conference, and leaves the home side rooted to the
bottom. MATCH

The second round draw for the FA Trophy has
handed the Brewers another away trip, with Barrow or Worcester City

BURTON ALBION 1 ALDERSHOT 3 (09/12/06)
Santa Claus made an appearance at the Pirelli
Stadium this afternoon but it was the Albion defence that handed out
the gifts to bogey side Aldershot Town.
Lee Fowler put the Brewers in front with a
superb curled effort, but the visitors quickly drew level and then
raced into a two goal lead that they never looked like losing.

The only ray of light on an otherwise gloomy day
was that defeat for Tamworth against fellow strugglers Crawley Town,
has left the Lambs bottom of the table.

WEEKLY NEWS ROUND UP (08/12/06)
With no midweek game, it has been a quiet few
days for the Brewers as they build up towards the last home league
match of 2006.
Terry Henshaw looks set to return from his loan
spell at Hednesford Town in time for the busy Christmas and New Year
period after spending the maximum permitted number of days at the
Unibond League club. Terry will provide squad cover before his long
term future is discussed in the New Year.
Bad news for Chris Hall after it was announced
that the winger looks set to miss the rest of the season.
Hall has not played for the Brewers since
picking up an injury in the defeat away to Forest Green on October
10th and know needs surgery to repair cruciate ligament damage.
The chances of catching Dagenham & Redbridge in
the Conference were boosted with the news that the second placed
team are set to sell two of their key players in the January
transfer window. Defender Shane Blackett and striker Craig Mackail-Smith
are to move to league 2 Peterborough United in a £200,000 deal. The
deal could be a double delight for the Brewers as it could make
Albion target Justin Richards even more surplus to requirements at
London Road. Richards is currently on loan at Grays Athletic but
could be available for a permanent move away from Posh in the New
Year.

ALTRINCHAM 2 BURTON ALBION 3 (02/12/06)
The Brewers moved up to third place in the
Nationwide Conference after an entertaining victory at Moss Lane.
It was a game full of great goals and poor
defending, but a brace from Daryl Clare and Lee Fowler's first goal
for the club secured all the points.
