DARREN STRIDE PRESENTATION (29/04/07)
A presentation was made to Darren
Stride before the match against Halifax Town on 17th April in
recognition of his achievement of breaking the Burton Albion
appearance record.
Thanks to the generosity of a number of Brewers
fans, an engraved presentation piece was purchased. A plaque was
also handed to Darren which included the names of all the supporters
who made donations towards the presentation. There was a sum of
money left over and a donation has been made to
Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough.

Presentations to Darren Stride were made by Adam & Mark Drew.

CONFERENCE CLOCK WATCH (28/04/07)

with action at all of the key venues. The

NO WINNING HAND FOR BREWERS AGAINST
DIAMONDS
Burton Albion 1 Rushden & Diamonds 2
(28/04/07)
The game may have ended in disappointment, but
the season still ended on a high as the Brewers ended the season in
their highest ever league position.
It was an afternoon of highs and lows. For a
while Burton were in the play-off positions after Jon Shaw opened
the scoring, and then Southport's goal at St James Park pushed
Exeter further out of the picture.
However it was all to end in heartache as a 2
goal comeback from Exeter meant that the result at the Pirelli
Stadium was academic, and the goals from Jackson and Woodhouse for
Rushden were irrelevant in the end.
The players left the pitch to a deserved
standing ovation from the largest league crowd of the season, 2910.

down to 90 minutes of nail biting tension at home to Rushden &
Diamonds. Fans of Exeter, York and Gravesend & Northfleet will also
be frantically hoping and praying that their teams will make the
play-offs and continue the race for a place in the Football League.
CTMD has produced a guide to all this
afternoon's scenarios in today's

DROYLSDEN PROMOTED (20/04/07)
Congratulations to Droylsden who have gained
promotion to next seasons Blue Square Premier after winning the
Nationwide North title.
The Bloods were beaten play-off finalists in the
last two seasons and will now play at the highest level in their
history. They will be joined next season by Conference South
champions Histon, and Torquay who have been relegated from League 2.

NORTHWICH VICTORIA 0 BURTON ALBION 3 (20/04/07)
The Brewers have kept the season alive to the
very first game with a convincing win at Northwich.
A win at home to Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday
coupled with defeat for either York or Exeter will see the play-offs
reached for the first time.
All the goals came in the first half, before the
game petered out in the second 45 minutes.

BREWERS AIM FOR VICTORY AT NORTHWICH (20/04/07)
Burton
Albion's amazing season continues with the final away game of the
season at the Victoria Stadium.
It is a crucial day in the race for the play-off
places as a win for the Brewers, combined with a slip up by Exeter
or York could see them move into the top 5 with only one game left
to play.
It will be the first trip to the new home of
Northwich Victoria, and Nigel Clough will be looking for a first
away victory in 2007. The Vics will be playing their fourth game in
eight days including a 3-0 defeat at Gravesend and Northfleet on
Thursday evening.
Today's other games at the top of the table;
Kidderminster v Morecambe
Southport v York City
Stevenage Borough v Exeter City

HE'S A JOLLY GOODFELLOW (17/04/07)
Marc Goodfellow marked his first start for the
Brewers with his first goal for the club, and kept the hopes of a
play-off place alive.
Despite the attempts of referee Mr Hendley, it
was an entertaining game although for long periods it seemed as
though it was destined to end goalless.
The game was marred by five yellow and 2 red
cards, including a dismissal for Danny Holmes.
With just two games to go, the Brewers are now
just two points outside the top five, and another win at Northwich
on Saturday will set up a thrilling climax to the season.

BREWERS AIM FOR THE TREBLE (16/04/07)
Burton Albion have three games left as they aim
to keep their faint play-off ambitions alive.
After a disappointing set of results over the
Easter period, the Brewers now need to win all of their remaining
games and hope that at least one of their promotion rivals slip up.
The Brewers are five points away from the top
five places in the Conference, but have a game in hand, and a
victory over Halifax Town on Tuesday night will put pressure on
Exeter and York City in 4th and 5th place respectively.
The Shaymen come to the Pirelli Stadium at the
opposite end of the table, just one point above the relegation
places. They will be boosted by a league record that has seen them
undefeated in Burton.

BURTON ALBION 3 GRAYS ATHLETIC 0 (14/04/07)
The
Brewers kept their play-off hopes alive with a comfortable win over
struggling Grays.
Aaron Webster opened the scoring, heading home
from Gilroy's cross. Webster then set up Clare, who finished with a
spectacular overhead kick.
In the final minute, Webster completed the
scoring from the penalty spot after Shaun Harrad was fouled in the
area.
Burton still have to win all of their remaining
three league games, and hope that one of the teams above them loses
all of theirs, in order to finish in the top 5.

THE SEASON STARTS HERE!
(14/04/07)
Burton
Albion have just four games left to try to revive their fading
play-off hopes, starting this afternoon with the visit of Grays
Athletic.
Back to back defeats to York City and Southport
have left the Brewers playing catch-up in the play-off race and they
now need to win all of their remaining games, and hope that other
teams slip up, if they are to extend the season beyond the end of
April.
With three of the remaining games at the Pirelli
Stadium, the home fans can play a huge part by roaring the Brewers
on to victory. A big crowd was in attendance for the last home match
and a similar crowd is needed this afternoon.
CTMD is sending a rallying call to all Burton
fans to get down to the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon. Come down,
be loud, be proud, and cheer the Brewers to victory!

SOUTHPORT 3 BURTON ALBION 1 (09/04/07)
Albion's wretched away form continued with
defeat at Haig Avenue. The Brewers held a slender 1-0 advantage
before a dubious penalty award allowed the hosts back into the
match. A 25 yard free kick and a late third goal made it a harsh
score line and results elsewhere see the Brewers drop down to 7th
place in the table.
|
|
BURTON ALBION 1 YORK CITY 2 (07/04/07)
The Brewers slipped to a disappointing
home defeat to promotion rivals York City at the Pirelli Stadium
this afternoon, and with it slipped out of the play-off positions.
The home side had the best of the first half,
but once again failed to turn possession into goals. However an
injury to Darren Stride seemed to disrupt the teams flow and allowed
the visitors to take a two goal lead.
Andy Corbett scored a consolation goal in
stoppage time at the end of the game, but it was too little too
late.

NEW STRIKER FOR BREWERS (07/04/07)
CTMD
can exclusively unveil a new face ahead of the crucial clash with
York City this afternoon.
Whilst the new addition will not be able to take
place in the game, the players and fans should get a huge boost
ahead of one of the biggest games of the season.

PLAYER OF THE SEASON UPDATE (07/04/07)
.JPG) With
just six games of the season remaining, it looks like being a two
horse race for the CTMD player of the season award.
The contrast between the two contenders could
not be more striking with Darren Stride leading the competition
ahead of John Brayford.
Andy Corbett and Kevin Poole are the nearest
challengers for the crown in 3rd and 4th place respectively,
followed then by Danny Holmes and Daryl Clare.
The latest results and current standings can be
found on the Player of the Season
page. |
