Signed on non-contract terms from Worcester City as back up to first team keeper Dan Crane.

Began his career at Mansfield Town, but never made the break into the first team. He has represented Wales at U-17, U-19 and U-21 level, and played for his country as recently as September 2004.

Made his debut for the Brewers as a substitute against Aldershot after Dan Crane had been sent off, and made his full debut in the following match.

James never got another chance in the side after the return of Crane, and spent the remainder of the season on the bench.

Joined Moor Green in June 2005.
