Signed on loan from Accrington Stanley in a bid to provide an effective partner for Daryl Clare.

A former Manchester United trainee, he failed to make the grade at Old Trafford and moved to Hull City. He made 131 appearances for the Tigers before a short spell at Torquay United.

David dropped down into non-league firstly with Chester City, and then with Telford United, Hereford United and finally onto Accrington Stanley.

He helped Stanley gain promotion to the Football League but the following season found himself frozen out by the manager. He joined the Brewers on a one month loan deal in November 2006.
