The following pen picture is taken from the
Burton Albion programme from March 1965;
Brian
Moore is aged 26, 5ft 10ins tall and weighs 13 stones. He is equally
at home on either wing, but is currently playing at outside left.
Brian hails from Wakefield in Yorkshire, so it is not surprising
that he was a rugby enthusiast in his younger days. It was not until
he was 18 years of age that he played his first game of soccer, but
he quickly made his mark and spent three seasons with Leeds United
as an amateur.
Whilst at
Loughborough Brian played for the college team and was in the side
that won through to the quarter finals of the FA Amateur Cup. Upon
taking up an appointment as Physical Education teacher at the
Peoples College, Nottingham, Brian turned out for Notts Forest and
later for Mansfield Town.
In
December 1961 he signed professional terms for Notts County, his
football travels then took him to Doncaster and Nuneaton before
joining Albion last season. Brian can say that he is following in
his grandfather's footsteps for he (grandfather) was an Aston Villa
player.
When not
teaching or footballing Brian lists jazz music as his favourite
pastime, particularly if it is played on the piano.
